There are a few scenarios where you will want to hold your Valet differently, depending on the type of transaction you want to do, or if any of your transaction types are denied – sometimes one method will work while another does not, depending on the store’s setup.
For NFC Payments, please do the following:
- The Valet should be held above the NFC icon or location on the POS
- Press the button once for the primary payment card, or twice for the secondary card
- The POS will likely give an indication the NFC payment is being read and has processed, with an auditory beep on many
For MST Payments (card-swipe type), please do the following:
- The Valet should be held next to the location on the POS system where a physical card would be swiped
- Press the button once for the primary payment card, or twice for the secondary card
- The POS will ding like with a card swipe when the MST transaction has been read
For Chip-Only Readers, please do the following:
- The Valet should be held on the location on the POS system where the chip-end of the card is inserted
- Press the button once for the primary payment card, or twice for the secondary card
- The POS will ding as with chip cards and transact similarly
NOTE: Stores have the ability to manually disable contactless payment methods. The OV Valet cannot bypass these preventions, as it is a software feature available for stores to opt in to and is often done deliberately. This is an unfortunate reality and limitation for our token system, as well as all contactless cards and mobile-payment systems.
